The short answer

What is Profhilo?

Profhilo is a hyaluronic acid injectable: nearly all of it is the water-binding sugar your skin already contains. One 2 ml syringe holds 64 mg, an unusually high amount, processed by heat instead of a chemical cross-linker so it spreads out under the skin after it goes in. Over the following weeks the skin holds more water and gradually makes more collagen and elastin, so it looks plumper, firmer and smoother while the shape of your face stays exactly as it was.

It is given as a course of two sessions about a month apart, each taking under 15 minutes of injecting. The practices that publish it at UNTIL Marylebone, 1 Orchard Street, and UNTIL Soho, 111 Charing Cross Road, charge from £240 a session. Ask about price and availability and UNTIL Health Concierge will book you in with one of them, or read the Profhilo glossary for any term you meet along the way.

Profhilo benefits and who the treatment suits

Skin that looks dry or flat by the afternoon

The high concentration of hyaluronic acid draws water into the skin, so a dull, thirsty complexion looks fresher and holds make-up more evenly as the course builds.

Early softening along the jaw and lower face

As the skin makes more collagen and elastin it feels firmer, which helps mild looseness in the lower face and jawline. Marked sagging needs a different treatment.

Fine, crepey lines on the cheeks and neck

Better hydrated, denser skin creases less finely, which shows most on the cheeks, the neck and the chest, where the skin is thin.

Wanting to look rested without looking changed

Nothing is filled or reshaped, so friends see healthier skin rather than a different face. That makes it a common first injectable in your thirties and forties.

Preparing skin for other treatment

Some practitioners use it before or between volume treatments, so the skin over a filled area is in good condition first.

How does Profhilo work? From assessment to the second session

Profhilo works through a short course, and most of what decides your result happens before the first injection: whether your skin needs hydration and firmness, or volume.

Assessment.

The practitioner looks at your skin in daylight, asks about your health and medicines, and tells you whether Profhilo suits what you want to change. The full course price is set out before any booking is made.

Ten injections.

After cleansing, 0.2 ml goes in at each of five points on either side of the face. Each takes seconds, and the injecting is over within 15 minutes.

The product spreads.

Over 24 to 48 hours the small bumps flatten as the gel moves through the tissue, binding water and prompting the cells that make collagen and elastin.

Second session.

The maker sets the second session 30 days after the first. Results keep building for about eight weeks after it.

Maintenance.

Most people come back for one session at around six months to keep the result going, rather than repeating the full course.

What Profhilo is used for

Profhilo improves the condition of the skin. Lost volume, deep folds and heavy sagging need other treatments.

Profhilo injections by area

Profhilo is used wherever skin has become thin, dry or slightly loose and the aim is better quality skin rather than more volume: dehydrated and dull skin, mild skin laxity, neck lines and crepey arms. These are the areas practitioners at UNTIL Marylebone and UNTIL Soho publish.

Profhilo for the face

The full face is the standard treatment and the one the ten-point technique was designed for. Five points sit on each side: on the cheekbone, in front of the ear, beside the nostril, at the chin and just above the angle of the jaw. From there the gel spreads across the cheeks and lower face over a day or two. People choose it when their skin looks dehydrated, dull or a little less firm than it was, especially across the cheeks, and want it to look healthier without anyone being able to point to a change in shape. It will not lift a heavy jowl, soften a deep fold or replace lost volume in the cheek, and a good practitioner says so before you pay.

Profhilo for the neck

Neck skin is thinner than facial skin, moves all day and has usually had years of sun, so it often looks older than the face above it. Profhilo is used there for crepey texture and slight looseness, with a separate ten-point pattern across the front and sides of the neck. The course is the same two sessions about a month apart. It improves hydration and firmness; it does not erase the deep horizontal lines that form where the neck folds, and it does not tighten a neck with marked loose skin, which is a surgical question. Several practices price the neck the same as the face, so ask whether the two can be booked together; Profhilo for the neck and body covers it in full.

Profhilo under the eyes

People often ask about Profhilo for tired-looking eyes, so it helps to know where it goes. The maker’s ten points sit on the cheekbone, jaw, chin and beside the nose and ear, none of them on the lower eyelid, so the skin under the eye benefits only indirectly as the cheek skin around it improves. For crepey skin right under the eye, the practices at UNTIL clubs more often publish polynucleotides or a booster made for the eye area. If what bothers you is a hollow tear trough or dark circles, Profhilo is unlikely to change it, because it adds no volume and does not lighten pigment. A good assessment names the cause before recommending a treatment.

Profhilo for the jowls and jawline

Firmer, better hydrated skin along the jaw can make early softening there look a little crisper, which is why some people ask about Profhilo for jowls. The honest limit is that it improves the skin, not the tissue underneath it: when a jowl comes from deeper changes, such as fat sitting lower or bone thinning with age, skin quality alone will not redefine the jawline. Practitioners sometimes use Profhilo alongside treatments that add structure, with the skin treated first so it sits better over them. Expect a subtle change in texture and firmness along the jaw over about eight weeks, and ask at the assessment which part of the change you want Profhilo can actually make.

Profhilo on the hands and décolletage

The backs of the hands and the upper chest show age early because the skin is thin and catches the most sun. On the hands Profhilo improves crepey texture so veins and tendons look less prominent, and on the chest it softens the fine vertical creasing many people notice in their forties. Both follow the usual course of two sessions. One Soho practice charges £300 a session for the décolletage, matching its face price. Keep the first session well clear of any event where a stray bruise would matter, and ask whether the area is priced on its own or with the face.

Profhilo Body for the arms, abdomen and knees

Profhilo Body is a larger 3 ml presentation of the same material, made for wider areas: the inner arms, the abdomen, and the skin above the knees. It treats crepey, slightly loose skin there, with points spaced across the area using the same principle as the face. A Marylebone practice publishes Profhilo Body at £600 for two sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, and another Marylebone practice lists the arms, abdomen and knees among the areas it treats. Results build over the same eight weeks or so. It improves texture and firmness; it does not remove fat or tighten skin left loose after significant weight loss.

Profhilo injection points

The maker’s method is called the BAP technique, short for Bio Aesthetic Points. It uses five points on each side of the face, ten in all, with 0.2 ml placed at each, so one 2 ml syringe treats the whole face. The points are chosen so the gel can spread evenly through the tissue while keeping clear of the larger blood vessels and nerves.

Because so few points are needed, the session is quick and there is less to bruise than with older skin boosters that used dozens of small injections. Each point leaves a small raised bump that flattens over the next day or two as the product disperses. The neck has its own ten-point pattern. Some practitioners adapt the points to your face, and the glossary of Profhilo terms explains the vocabulary they may use.

Profhilo results over the course

Profhilo changes the condition of your skin, not the shape of your face, and it builds slowly. Small bumps settle within a day or two; many people see fresher, smoother skin from about two weeks; the second session falls around week four; and firmness and texture keep improving for about eight weeks after it, before fading gradually from around six months.

Profhilo before and after, week by week goes through each stage and each area, with how to photograph your own result fairly.

Does Profhilo work?

The published evidence points to a real but modest improvement. A 2026 systematic review in Plastic and Aesthetic Nursing pooled nine studies with 278 participants and found measurable gains in skin hydration, elasticity, density and laxity on the face, neck, arms, abdomen and hands, with side effects that were mild and usually gone within 72 hours.

Two caveats are worth knowing. The studies are small, and three of the review’s five authors work for the maker. So the fair reading is that Profhilo reliably improves skin quality for many people, the change is subtle by design, and how much you notice depends on your skin and what you expected. Whether it is worth it comes down to the assessment: a practitioner who explains what it cannot change, as well as what it can, is the one to trust with the course.

How long does Profhilo last?

A completed course of two usually holds for around six months, and some people find it lasts a little longer. The injected gel is gradually broken down by the body; what lasts is the skin’s own response, the extra water it holds and the collagen and elastin it has made. Age, sun exposure, smoking and how dry your skin was to begin with all move the figure.

To keep the result, most people return for one maintenance session rather than a full course. The maker allows for maintenance as often as every two to three months; the practitioners at UNTIL clubs more often plan it at around six months, and many people repeat it twice a year. A single maintenance session is priced at £320 at one practice working in both clubs.

How much does Profhilo cost in London?

The practitioners Profhilo London works with publish £240 to £400 for a single Profhilo session and £450 to £550 for the standard course of two, checked on 13 October 2026. Profhilo Body for the arms or abdomen is £600 for a course of two at one Marylebone practice. Profhilo London sets no price and takes no payment; the practitioner confirms your price at the assessment. An appointment usually takes around 30 minutes, with under 15 minutes of injecting.

How you pay for Profhilo

Profhilo is paid for privately: each practice at UNTIL Marylebone and UNTIL Soho publishes its own prices and takes payment directly, and you need no GP referral to enquire. Two practices publish a £50 consultation and one takes a £50 deposit from new patients. Profhilo London does not publish waiting times, because each practitioner sets their own clinic days; say on the form when you would like to come in.

What changes the price

The area, whether you are quoted per session or for the course, and who treats you. A full face and a neck are often priced the same, the body costs more because it uses a larger syringe, and some practices include a review appointment while others do not.

One session or a course of two

Because Profhilo is designed as two sessions about a month apart, compare course prices with course prices. One Soho practice charges £300 for a single face session and £550 for the course; a Marylebone practice publishes the course at £450. A quote well under everyone else’s in London is worth questioning: ask what product is being used and who is injecting it. Profhilo prices in London lists every published figure, and the practitioner confirms yours before anything is booked.

Profhilo downtime and aftercare in brief

Expect a small raised bump at each injection point that flattens within 24 to 48 hours, some redness and possibly a pinprick bruise. Keep make-up, pressure and massage off the area for 12 hours, and skip saunas, hard exercise and alcohol for 24. Most people return to work the same day.

Profhilo is not given in pregnancy or while breastfeeding, or where the skin is infected or inflamed. Profhilo side effects, lumps and aftercare covers each of these in detail, with the published safety data.

Is Profhilo a filler?

No. They share an ingredient, hyaluronic acid, but they are engineered for opposite jobs, and that difference decides which one suits you.

Profhilo vs filler

A dermal filler is cross-linked so it holds its shape where it is placed, adding volume to the lips, cheeks or tear trough, and it typically lasts nine to eighteen months. Profhilo is designed to flow away from each point and improve the skin over a wide area, with results that build over weeks and last about six months. Filler changes contour; Profhilo changes texture, hydration and firmness. Some people have both, usually with the skin treated first.

Profhilo as a skin booster

Clinics often file Profhilo under skin boosters, the broad group of injectables that improve skin quality. Its high concentration of hyaluronic acid and its ten-point technique set it apart from boosters that are placed as many tiny deposits. If two quotes both say skin booster, ask which product each one means.

Profhilo vs polynucleotides

Polynucleotides are made of purified DNA from salmon or trout and work by prompting the skin’s own repair, and they are often preferred for the thin skin under the eyes. Profhilo is hyaluronic acid that hydrates and firms across the face and neck. Practices at both clubs publish both, and some practitioners combine them in one plan; Profhilo vs polynucleotides compares them side by side.

Profhilo Structura vs Profhilo

Profhilo Structura is a separate product in the same range, placed deeper in the fat of the outer cheek, which the maker describes as restoring adipose tissue. Standard Profhilo treats the skin itself. None of the practices at UNTIL clubs publishes Structura at the moment, so ask at the assessment if it is the treatment you had in mind.

Who gives Profhilo at UNTIL clubs

Profhilo is published by six independent practices across two UNTIL clubs, five in Marylebone and two in Soho, since one doctor works at both. Doctors lead four of them and nurses two. Every practice is its own business inside the club, with its own prices and clinic days, and carries responsibility for your care and aftercare.

Before your first session, ask your practitioner for their registration number and check it on the GMC register for a doctor or the NMC register for a nurse. About Profhilo London explains how enquiries reach them.

Profhilo treatment
questions answered

How much is Profhilo in London per session?

Between £240 and £400 for one session at the practices Profhilo London connects you with, and £450 to £550 for the usual course of two. A single maintenance session costs £320 at one practice. The exact figure depends on the area and the practitioner, who confirms it at your assessment before anything is booked.

How many Profhilo sessions will I need?

Two to start, about four weeks apart, which is the maker’s standard course. Some practitioners add a third for skin that needs more. After that, one maintenance session at around six months usually keeps the result. The practitioner Profhilo London puts you in touch with will set the number after looking at your skin.

Does Profhilo hurt?

Most people find it quick and very bearable: there are only ten small injections on the face, each over in seconds, and any discomfort fades soon after. A numbing cream can be applied first if you would like it. Profhilo London suggests mentioning a fear of needles when you enquire so the practitioner can plan for it.

How long do Profhilo lumps last?

Usually 24 to 48 hours. The bumps are the gel sitting at each point before it spreads, and they flatten on their own; massaging them is not advised. A lump still firm after a week should be seen by the practitioner who treated you. Profhilo London only connects you with practitioners who hold clinic at UNTIL clubs.

How long does Profhilo take to work?

Skin often looks fresher from about two weeks after the first session, and the fuller change in firmness and texture builds for roughly eight weeks after the second. Profhilo London suggests judging the course two months after your second session, comparing it with photos you took beforehand by the same window.

Is Profhilo worth it?

For dull, dehydrated or slightly loose skin, studies and practitioners report a real improvement in hydration and firmness, though it is subtle by design. It is poor value if you want volume or lifting. Profhilo London connects you with practitioners who will tell you at the assessment whether your skin is likely to respond.

Can men have Profhilo?

Yes. Nothing about the treatment is specific to women: the course of two sessions is the same, and the assessment looks at the same things, hydration, firmness and texture. Men often ask about it for dry, weathered skin or early softening along the jaw. Profhilo London takes enquiries from anyone aged 18 or over.

What age is Profhilo suitable from?

It is an adult treatment, and Profhilo London accepts enquiries only from people aged 18 and over. Most people who choose it are past 30, the decade when skin tends to start losing water and firmness. The practitioner decides at the assessment whether it suits your skin at your age.
